Michael Jackson – This Is It
I’d heard two different schools of thought in the lead up to the release of the Michael Jackson movie, ‘This Is It’.
Some felt it was an attempt by unscrupulous people who wanted to make a few quick and easy bucks in the wake of his passing, but others saw the true meaning of the film – a tribute to the brilliant talent of Michael Jackson.
It’s a bittersweet moment. The movie takes you through the rehearsals of what was to be ‘the greatest show on earth’. You’re swept away in the inspiration of the amazing talent, dedication and devotion he gave to his craft. He demanded perfection from his performers and crew and their respect shone through. He was truly one of a kind.
This movie is also a dedication to all of the wonderful people who worked not only on stage, but also behind the scenes. Their talent, dedication and devotion to their craft is also an inspiration. They were the backbone of the show and deserve to be given the recognition and the opportunity to shine.
The musicians and dancers were phenomenal. The visual image creators were phenomenal. The sound and lighting crews were phenomenal. I’m sure that even the roadies were phenomenal. His entire crew were the best of the best.
Michael Jackson looks fit and for a moment you’re taken back to the happy times in your life where he made an impact, until the reality hits that he really has passed.
We arrived at Southbank’s Cineplex Cinemas in Brisbane not really knowing what to expect. It was presented in cinema 5 on their original, gigantic IMAX screen. I don’t think there would have been any other way to see this movie. It was larger than life – the way it was meant to be. The audience applauded at the end of the movie and left quietly. It was quite a sombre moment.
I thank everyone involved in the making of this movie for sharing this moment. It truly would have been the greatest show on earth.

AstralAliens @ Club 299

The AstralAliens were in town with their originals show in the Valley….Fortitude Valley in Brisbane to be exact. The band were headlining at Club 299 on Brunswick St and it was a night not to be missed.
After a scrumptious dinner at the Happy Chef Chinese Restaurant, we headed to the club for the 10.00pm show. The band didn’t disappoint with their well rehearsed stage show and original songs. It’s been a while since I’ve ventured out into the nightclub scene but I had a ball – the sticky carpet, the stamp that won’t come off for days, the flashing lights and loud music – my ears are still ringing from the excitement.
Keep an eye out for the AstralAliens. They’re on their way to bigger and better things. In the meantime, check out their new website, their fantastic new ep, ‘Arrival’ and my new T!
Tune in to the next episode of AstralAliens TV to watch videos and to catch the boys ‘United States of Australia’ tour!
